Vancouver, CANADA – Chinese Cultural Preservation Foundation (CCPF), co-founded by local business leaders Crystal Hung (CEO and Founder of Icon Marketing and Yoyoe Lu (Managing Principal of Claridge Real Estate Advisors), feeds 300 homeless in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside on the National Indigenous Day. CCPF is steadfast in the belief that decent shelter and sufficient food are fundamental rights in a civilized society.

“High levels of violence, homelessness, addictions, and poverty characterize the Downtown Eastside community. These meals and socks deliver not just much-needed calories but hope and care that there are people who see them as human beings and are praying for them to one day find their way to a better place in life,” says Dr. Jack Chang, a Vancouver surgeon at Pollock Clinics and regular participant in the mission.

CCPF works in collaboration with the All Nations Outreach Society to distribute the meals. The All Nations Outreach Society is an emerging non-profit society founded by James Harry Sr., an outreach/peer support worker from the Haisla Nation. James supports Haisla members that are struggling with substance use, mental health, and homelessness in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

The CCPF group meets weekly to make 300-500 meals a week and hands them out on Wednesdays. Under the able guidance of its founding members and a dedicated team of volunteers, the group facilitates sustainable empowerment with complete transparency and accountability. Both Crystal Hung and Yoyoe Lu are thought leaders, strategists, and voices behind CCPF. Diligent, determined, and compassionate, the duo has been driving the group’s mission with empathy and generosity.

“Everyone deserves to live with dignity where their basic requirements are met. Our society needs to empower the underprivileged to enable each one of them to be an active contributing member. At CCPF, we do all we can for the betterment of the economically disadvantaged. But we have a long way to go. It will take the work of many hands and hearts. We are fully committed to the mission of our foundation,” says Crystal and Yoyoe.

In recognition of its commendable work that brings about a positive change in society, CCPF has earned tremendous goodwill and praise in their community. CCPF’s remarkable grass-roots work in empowering the marginalized is inspiring several other volunteers and entrepreneurs to contribute to the upliftment of the less privileged in society.
